Disney travel is different in 2021

First, Disneyland is closed. That’s it, just closed. Disneyland is going to attempt to do an opening without attractions for a special ticket in March of 2021 but that is not the same as being a destination. With Disneyland being closed and cruises being postponed, Disneyworld is the only way for everyone to get their Disney fix. With the pandemic still running rampant throughout the world, cruises are not being booked and confirmed at this point. International travel is jumping through their own hoops at this point.

Disney is a family dream

Americans are opting to stay in the states this year. After the lockdowns of 2020, flexibility with school schedule, and the focus on family has led to an increase in vacations domestically. Many of the typical locations that would create a draw domestically are closed. So many of the attractions, like Times Square, which is the largest tourist attraction in the world, has travel restrictions that make it impossible to vacation. So where else are people going?

Cinderella's Castle

Disney World is open. The weather is nice there too! Disney typically gets about 60 million visitors a year. Oct 1, 2021 is the 50th anniversary of Disneyworld. They were preparing to celebrate starting in the fall, and a little thing like a pandemic doesn’t stop the Mouse! Currently Disney word is at 35% capacity. So if you think about the increase in demand and the limited capacity, Disneyworld is going to get very busy!

I have spent the last ten years making an annual trip to Disneyworld. Every year the crowds would increase- noticeably. This year marking the 50th anniversary, the Tron coaster opening hopefully in early 2022, the Remy Ratatouille Ride opening in summer of 2021, the Guardians of the Galaxy ride, the redesign of Epcot, the new Moana Water Garden, and so on and so on. Changes and improvements are in progress all over Disneyworld. There have been delays in openings with the closures of 2020, but the residual draw to Disneyworld from Star Wars land and Pandora is still there. As families start to find their way back into world, the spotlight has been pointed brightly on the little piece of the sunshine state with wonderful weather, family friendly activities, proximity to beaches, and a nice bubble that blocks out the hardships of life.

Unless I can convince you to try Central America?
