5 New Ways to Vacation Now
Even if you are not ready to Travel. No Staycations, involved!
2020 was a rough year on all of us, we were all stuck at home with only virtual access to the outside world. 2021 was the hope on the edge of the horizon. While it may not have been the Silver Bullet we were all looking for, but there is still hope! I have 5 ways to get that vacation on the books, even if you are not fully ready to travel.
Everyone may not be ready yet to cruise around the world and explore far off cities. But you can still get away now on vacation even if you’re not ready to fully travel. You do not have to go far to enjoy ourselves.
For this, I’m not talking staycations. These are new ways to vacation now. We’ve had enough of those. However, if you are not ready to travel then save this information for later. Whether you want to travel with your kids, on a romantic getaway, or just anywhere at this point I think I may have some ideas for you.
Explore your Own State- The New Vacation Spot
This is not the staycation of the past. This is just a new way to vacation, closer to home. You do not have to worry about crossing state lines and quarantine periods. Most states have vacation spots in them, whether those that live there realize it or not! Don’t discount your own area just because you live there.
From hiking mountains, to beaches, to State and National parks, museums, local theme parks, white water rafting, ATV trips, zoos and aquariums… the list can be endless. Travel times tend to be lower, you are more familiar with the area, as long as you still treat it like a vacation this can be one of the most effective new ways to vacation without going far. If you need ideas, approach the state like you are from out of town. What areas and activities come to mind? Do the same research you would do to go somewhere else. Use Tripadvisor or your State Tourism board, you will not be disappointed.
Wellness Travel- Travel for a New You
Wellness travel is focused on transformation. It can be a spiritual, mental, or physical journey that you embark on alone or with a companion. This can be a new way to vacation with a focus on you! Wellness Resorts can be overly luxurious with guided experiences, remote outdoor experiences, or minimal mental realignment bungalows. These getaways can be designed to leave you feeling destressed, renewed, or more purpose driven after your return. Wellness resorts are located throughout the country. From Colorado, California, and Arizona, to Virginia, South Carolina, and New York you can find a location close to you. Why not take a vacation that will allow you to come home better than you left!
Disney World, Ultimate Family Vacation
There I put it out there. If you have kids or not and want to get away from it all, Disney World will accomplish that for you. Disney World is a complete destination. It can give you luxury, dining, adventures, and shows. You can even stroll around Epcot and get a taste of the entire world without ever leaving Orlando.
We have seen a tremendous increase in the visits to Disney. Their capacity limits are being tested. Disney has worked since the reopening to maintain all guidelines set forth. Social distancing, masks, cleaning, Disney has implemented all of them and, from every testimonial, does a great job. Disney has always been focused on cleanliness and now is no different.
Ultimate Luxury Vacation
There are so many hotels, resorts, and spas that are absolute luxury. From the finest rooms, amenities, and service, these resorts are top-of-the-line. From the Ranches of the Midwest, the spas in Arizona, or boutique hotels in Miami, these hotels exist throughout the United States. Many times you don’t want to spend the higher cost for these resorts because they are only part of the vacation.
A more domestic vacation can lead to more luxury. Enjoy the what the resort has to offer. It can be at an adventurous resort from riding like a modern day cowboy, to skeet shooting, mud baths, and golf. Finding a luxury resort in a larger city can lead to culture and museums with limited capacity that end up making you feel like you have the entire place to yourself.
Where as in the past you would find a destination, and then look for a resort in your budget, this way you find a resort and then build the rest of the trip around it. It’s a new way to look at a vacation that you may not have taken otherwise.
Make the Journey, the New Vacation Destination.
We’ve all heard the phrase “it’s not the destination, it’s the journey.” Maybe this time, the vacation needs to be the journey. Take a road trip. Take a train trip. Get out and enjoy the travel. If you plan a road trip or a train ride, you can see a lot of area in a short period of time. You can enjoy the scenery, smaller towns along the way, and unique destinations.
You can even use this as a way to travel state/national parks or museums. If you set an amount of time or a distance, Google is very helpful at planning a route that will take you by things of interest. Take advantage of the journey and try some new things! And then try something different on the way home, two trips in one!
You do not have to go Far
I am a firm believer in the benefits of a vacation. The best part about a vacation, is that you do not have to go far. Travel when you feel comfortable doing so. In the meantime, I hope this helps you think outside the box on your next possible get away. And if not, call a travel agent. They are a great resource for navigating the new travel requirements.
